Profile Projector is also known as optical comparator and shadowgraph. Profile Projector is used for the inspection of manufactured parts. In Profile Projector the magnified image of a component is projected on the screen. In Profile Projector the dimensions and geometry of the part are measured against prescribed limits with Digital Readout Systems and Data Processors. The measuring happens in any of several ways in Profile Projector. The simplest way of measurement in Profile Projector is the graduations on the screen. Another way of measurement in Profile Projector is digital read out, the stage moved to reach the different points. Finally, the most technologically advanced methods involve software that analyzes the image and reports measurements.
